A recent step is the deployment of electric trucks from our site in Kerkrade. These vehicles are used on international routes between the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, supporting customers in reducing the environmental impact of their logistics flows.

The introduction of electric vehicles was a move from ambition to everyday practice. The project required careful preparation, including route analysis, assessment of energy availability and operational planning. This approach helps ensure that new solutions are both workable and reliable in daily operations.

To support this, charging infrastructure has been installed at the Kerkrade site. This enables consistent operations and provides a basis for further steps in electrification.

By evaluating operational requirements and testing different scenarios, the teams involved gained valuable insights into what is needed to make electric transport work in practice. In addition, access to a fast-growing broader European charging network enables flexibility during operations, which is important for international transport activities.

However, introducing new technology also brings challenges. By monitoring performance and evaluating results, Vos Logistics and its partners continue to learn and improve. These insights help shape future decisions on how to deal with demands in sustainable transport.

Marc Schols, Business Unit Manager in Kerkrade, explains: “We experienced some start-up challenges, for example with the charging infrastructure. At the same time, these are valuable learning moments that help us build long-term expertise in electric transport.”

Driver feedback is an important part of this process as well. The electric trucks are generally experienced as quiet and comfortable, supporting the transition to new technology.
