Vos Logistics expands logistics centre in Goch for AKZO NOBEL
- 5,500 m2 expansion to 20,500 m2 with an option for further enlargement and space for new customers
- Vos Logistics and Akzo Nobel extend their strategic cooperation
European logistics service provider Vos Logistics is enlarging its current logistics centre in Goch (Germany) by 5,500 m2 for approximately 11,000 pallet spaces and additional office space. The enlargement is part of the extension of the strategic cooperation between Vos Logistics and Akzo Nobel. The enlargement will increase warehousing capacity to more than 36,000 pallet spaces suitable for the storage of coating products and with special compartments for hazardous substances.
Vos Logistics has been operating Akzo Nobel's distribution centre in Goch since 2004 for the Decorative Coatings business unit to serve the German market. From Goch, on the A57 motorway between Nijmegen and Krefeld, Germany, the Benelux and north France can be served within 24 hours. Vos Logistics also performs worldwide goods distribution for Akzo Nobel's Performance Coatings business unit from Goch.
Toine van Gils, Contract Logistics Director at Vos Logistics said: The contract extension between Akzo Nobel and Vos Logistics confirms the good cooperation between the two parties. Vos Logistics and Akzo Nobel are also working together on a project to implement extra Value Added Activities in Goch, including the blending of coatings.
Joep Mooren, Akzo Nobel's Decorative Coatings Logistics Director said: This enlargement gives us an opportunity to rationalise our distribution structure. We are also working with Vos Logistics on a project to optimise the supply chain in accordance with the Lean principles with the goal of achieving business excellence.
