Vos Logistics operates sustainable Ecocombi transport solution for Scania

European logistics service provider Vos Logistics is to use an 'Ecocombi' or EMS (European Modular
System) to transport tyres on behalf of Scania on the route between ’s-Hertogenbosch and Zwolle in the
Netherlands. With a length of 25.25 metres, this combination can carry 40% more cargo than a standard mega trailer. Vos Logistics has worked closely with Scania in recent weeks, carrying out several successful test runs.
The Ecocombi will therefore emit less CO2. This is the first time an Ecocombi has been used for Scania
outside Sweden. Scania is seeking to increase its use of Ecocombi’s and will soon start test runs on the
fixed route between Katwijk and Zwolle.

The Ecocombi concept using longer and/or heavier vehicles is one of the sustainable transport solutions Vos Logistics offers. In combination with its own fleet fitted with energy-saving engines and special courses to teach drivers low-energy driving techniques, an energy saving of more than 30% will be achieved on this route.

Hillebrand Diever, Transport manager Scania productions Zwolle Nederland:
'Together with our suppliers and logistics service providers we aim to reduce the CO2 emission of our
activities. I am really pleased with the solution we have developed in cooperation with Vos Logistics and
Fitlog. Using the Ecocombi will strongly improve our energy efficiency and cut costs while reducing our
CO2 emission. This genuinely is a win-win situation.'

In its pursuit of sustainability, Vos Logistics focuses on innovations that maximise efficiency, such as
multi-modal transport, optimise loading capacities and reduce the number of empty kilometres.
